FAQs

  • Do I join with a slip stitch at the end of each round?
No, you’re working in a spiral so just carry on without any joins – just remember to use your stitch marker at the end of each round.

  • What do I do if I’ve not left a long enough end to make the tail/sew a shape together?
Take a new long piece of yarn and knot the end.  Thread this onto your yarn needle and pass this through the shape so the knot is securely hidden and stuck inside the shape.  Then come out in the place you need to carry on.

  • How big is the finished amigurumi?
    About 10cm not including ears.

  • What do the toy safety regulations mean to me?
You only need to look into this if you are selling toys.  If you are selling you need to ensure your toys meet the toy safety standards of your country.  For the UK you need to test your creations according to BS EN71 parts 1, 2 and 3.  You can then CE mark your toys and legally sell them.  For more information:  https://www.gov.uk/guidance/toy-manufacturers-and-their-responsibilities

  • You recommend not using safety eyes in your kits if you’re going to give them to young children yet you use them in your toys why is this?
Yes, this is because I have rigorously tested my toys to the toy safety standards and the eyes have passed their part of this.  I can’t guarantee other people’s creations would though!  So better safe than sorry – I recommend embroidering eyes in this instance.
